These are such a treat, especially for those of you trying to cut out that sweet toxic sugar from your life or battling a mean case of Candida.
Apples are full of phytonutrients and fibre both of which can help you balance your blood sugar, preventing those raging episodes of the hangry (hungry and angry at the same time!). Though they’re not crazy high in vitamin C (it varies depending on the kind), apples do pack about 8 mg per apple, an important vitamin since it’s water soluble and consistently needs replacing in the body.
Research studies have shown that total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol (the bad boy cholesterol) can be lowered through regular consumption. As they say, an apple a day…
Plus, baked apples are a total traditional comfort food that will leave you feeling warm and satisfied minus the guilt or yuck factor after eating say, a donut. Try and opt for organic whenever possible. According the Environmental Working Group, apples are one of the most highly sprayed produce and at the top of the “dirty dozen” list.
So go ahead, get your baked apple dizzle on!
