Low Stomach Acid: Cause and Effect

Posted by on Jun 13, 2013 in Health Tips

Antacids contribute to low stomach acid along with many other things! Keep reading.I don’t love heartburn.

I used to get some wicked heartburn as a child, and even into my early 20’s – especially after a bowlful of my mom’s spaghetti. (sorry ma … love you.) Or other times I’d feel like a meal had turned itself into a heavy brick sitting and slowly rotting in my stomach. I’d be rendered useless for hours waiting like a snake for the decaying mass to painfully inch its way through my body, or I’d be up all night because after it would finally leave my stomach it would blast through my intestines and I’d be sitting on the toilet for hours wasting away my youth. Other than heartburn and indigestion, have you ever given much thought to your stomach acid? Keep reading to find out about low stomach acid: cause and effect. READ MORE

Cinnamon baked apples - easy to make and delicious! These are such a treat, especially for those of you trying to cut out that sweet toxic sugar from your life or battling a mean case of Candida.

Paleo nutty banana bread by Melissa at FitnWellMommy.comSince I had some overly ripe bananas sitting around, as well as walnuts from my family’s farm, making banana nut bread seemed like the perfect thing to do this morning with the help of my little “baking assistant!” – my son, Keenan. Lately, Keenan has been getting better and better with mixing, whisking and adding spices. For a while there, everything in the bowl would fly out onto the counter and floor when he would mix, but now, he can do it while keeping all of the ingredients inside! His favorite thing is smelling the spices first and then gently tapping the container to add them to whatever we are making.  READ MORE

Butternut squash pizza crust. I must warn you, the crust is not like a traditional pizza. It was soft with crispy edges (and a tad crumbly), but it definitely tasted good! We will certainly be making this again!Since my husband and I were both craving pizza (but we didn’t want to order in or make a traditional pizza), we decided to try something new using the ingredients we had on hand. I found a recipe from Tina at Carrots ‘n’ Cake that called for sweet potatoes and since we didn’t have any, I used roasted butternut squash instead, and it came out great! We topped our pizza with olive oil, baby spinach, prosciutto and feta cheese. Though, I must warn you, the crust is not like a traditional pizza. It was soft with crispy edges (and a tad crumbly), but it definitely tasted good! We will certainly be making this again!  READ MORE

It was SO good, that I almost liked it better this way. It will definitely become one of our “regulars!”  READ MORE
