I love kale! This super awesome vegetable has beautiful rich green leaves that scream nutrients. They taste wonderfully with your favourite meat, fish or vegetarian dish and they are easy to cook with. This cruciferous vegetable is considered to be one of the healthiest vegetables out there and is definitely worth including in your diet. Although Kale is available all year round, you can find them more widely available and sweeter in taste in the middle of winter and through to the beginning of spring. Read full post

Gosh-darn it! I woke up this morning with a wee bit of a cold coming on. It’s rare that I get under the weather, but when I do, it’s usually because I’m burning the candle at both ends. An expression my dad loved to use when I was a youngster. Ironically, this seems to happen leading up to holidays. Looking back, I feel somewhat guilty for discriminating against these delicious and nutritious vegetables. Now that I’m older and wise enough to appreciate all that the beet has to offer, I can’t seem to get enough! Read full post

It’s not even June and I have already suffered my first major sunburn of the season! It doesn’t seem to matter how much sunscreen I apply, it’s never enough. Living in Canada means that we have a very short window of time to enjoy the sunshine and I try to take full advantage of this. One of my favourite things about the summer months (other than enjoying a brewsky or two on the patio) is the fresh produce!! Fresh produce, summer and salad go hand in hand. For this post I have provided a recipe for one of my favourite summer salads. Read full post
