rice milk and quinoa milk Often times when people go dairy-free they are looking for healthy alternatives. The good thing about milk is that there are all kinds of delicious alternatives! The most common is Almond Milk (click here to learn how to make your own). I am a fan of homemade almond milk but I will say that you need to be careful if you are buying it at the grocery store. A lot of almond milk contains carrageenan, which is not great (click here to find out why). 

Making Rice Milk and Quinoa Milk

Another popular milk alternative is rice milk. Many people don’t know that they can easily make their own and that it’s extremely easy to make! In the video below I show you how to make it and how to make it extra delicious! I also show you something REALLY COOL! I show you how to make milk out of quinoa! Who knew you could make quinoa milk?! This is revolutionary and extremely yummy!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of cooked brown rice, black rice, or quinoa
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
1 pitted date
1 tsp vanilla extract

Note: This is not an exact recipe. Feel free to adjust the amount of maple syrup, honey, date. and vanilla to suit your taste.

Instructions:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a high-speed blender. Start on low and turn up to max speed. Blend for 1-2 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.
  2. Store in a glass container in the fridge and shake before serving. It will last for approximately 3 days.
