I came up with this recipe for Valentine’s Day. I was feeling a little spicy and decided to pair Thai red chilies with some dark chocolate and nuts.
These puppies contain good heart healthy monounsaturated fats, Omega 3’s, potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin A, cancer-fighting phytochemicals, antioxidants, protein & fiber!
Chillies can help to seriously improve circulation, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and triglycerides, clear the sinuses, aid in relaxing the airways for asthma sufferers, prevent cancer and aid in pain management by blocking the transmitting of pain signals to the central nervous system!
Yes you can have your cake and eat it too!
Raw Chocolate Chili Bombs Recipe
Makes: 8 Chili Bombs
Ingredients:
Base:
½ cup walnuts, raw
½ cup almonds, raw
1 cup pitted dates, soaked in cold water for 30 minutes
Dash Celtic or Himalayan sea salt
1-2 Thai red chillies, chopped
2 tbsp cacao powder or high quality unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp cinnamon
Frosting:
½ avocado, pitted
2-3 tbsp 100% pure maple syrup or honey
2 tbsp cocoa powder
4 dates (from above)
1-2 Thai red chillies
Instructions:
- In a food processor pulse chop walnuts & almonds until coarse crumbs are formed.
- Drain the dates and put 4 aside for the frosting.
- Add ½ the dates, the chillies (two chillies will make it HOT), cocoa powder and the cinnamon. Process 30 seconds. Add in the other ½ of the dates and the sea salt and process another 30 seconds or so, until it forms a sticky ball of dough.
- Blend the avocado, liquid sweetener of choice (add more if you prefer a sweeter chocolate), 4 dates, cocoa powder and chillies (again start small and add if you want more heat, you can’t take it away!) until very smooth. This may take a couple minutes.
- Roll all the dough into a large ball. It should be very mouldable. Break off golf-ball sized pieces and roll into a ball. Flatten the top gently and top with frosting. Garnish with a few slices of fresh chili if desired!
- Enjoy!
