Popcorn with Turmeric and Fresh Ground Pepper When it comes to popcorn, there are SO many ways to dress it up that it really depends on what your favorite flavours are. Some of us are very tied to the traditional buttery popcorn flavour that you can find at the movie theatre, while others have become accustomed to dressing their popcorn with flavours such as white cheddar, dill, and salt & vinegar. This is the great thing about making your own popcorn! You can control what goes into it, create your own customized flavours, and truly remove that sense of guilt which accompanies the point when you reach the bottom of the bag! This particular recipe involves popping the corn on a stove. However, if you have an air popper then we have a delicious recipe for you as well! Check it out here: Cheesy Cinnamon Air-Popped Popcorn.

Pot Popped Cheesy Turmeric and Coconut Oil Popcorn

Ingredients:

1/2 cup organic popping corn kernels
3 tbsp Cold-pressed Organic Coconut Oil
1/2 tsp Organic Turmeric
1 tsp Sea Salt (or to taste)
1 tbsp Fresh Ground Black Pepper (or to taste)
~1/2 cup Nutritional Yeast

Directions:

1. Place pot on the stove on medium high heat (do not put your heat on maximum, this is important to make perfectly popped popcorn, and it’s a good idea to not heat oil at really high heats).
2. Add the coconut oil and heat.
3. Once melted, add the kernels and cover the pot with its lid.
4. Give the pot a shake every so often until you hear the kernels begin to pop.
5. Remove from heat when you hear no more pops!
6. Place into a large bowl and sprinkle with your sea salt, turmeric, nutritional yeast and black pepper to taste.
